Portfolio Piece #1 - Sustainable Packaging:
Carved Cravings is a sustainable packaging alternative to the styrofoam treys packaged in store at many grocery stores. This solution is designed to eliminate unrecyclable waste used a biodegradable butchers paper pouch to hold the meat products. The label design serves as a touch point for consumers to understand the packaging change for the existing product.
Portfolio Piece #2 - MMIWG
The MMIWG Campaign is a selection of three poster images that raise awareness to the political issue of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls in Canada. Since 1980, there have been an increased number of cases involving the murders and missing persons of Native American Women. They are also the only demographic of homicides not recognized by the Canadian Government, which leads to a lack of visibility on the issue. In this series, three images were created to raise awareness to the general Canadian audience of the issue and shed light on the vast number of women that have been affected. 275 unique digital portraits were created based off the photos provided by CBC’s online database of the cases, and their names were recorded on the second poster.
Portfolio Piece #3. Netflix Annual Report
The 2017 Annual Report for Netflix featured iconic and recognizable layouts that are cohesive with the branding. All the layouts of information used throughout the report mimic the web page layouts of the Netflix site, bringing the stylistic and recognizable branding together with the information.
Portfolio Piece #4: 12 Olympians
Based on the Greek Mythology, “The Twelve Olympians” illustrates the features and defining characteristics of the twelve Olympians that were said have lived on Mount Olympus. The major design element involved in the composition of the book is contrast. From the colours used to imagery pictured, there is a consistent pairing of organic forms with more structured and rigid forms. Many of the images feature photographic elements discussed in class such as balance, motion, and rule of thirds while the poses of the models indicate power and strength often found in Greek Gods.
